A large-scale vegetation change has taken place in Taisetuzan . So, Sasa kurilensis and P. pumila was expanded greatly. The P.Pumila has biomass is as large as a forest community, so it is possible that distribution of P.Pumila affects other alpine plants. In this study, I mesured the annual shoot elongation of the P.pumila for 20 years in two habitat type in Taisetsu Mountains and eight mountain area in Hokkaido. The data compared with the past meteorological data, evaluating how the habitat characteristic of a climate factor would influence the shoot elongation of P.Pumila.
