Jinchouge (ジンチョウゲ, 沈丁花)

Life form: evergreen shrub
Distribution: Himalaya - central China (used for gardening in Japan)

Only male strains are thought to be imported before mid-Muromach Era

Habitat: sunny sites, being not dry
Poisonous plant: producing daphnin

Varieties

f. alba (Hemsley) Hara (シロバナジンチョウゲ)
f. marginata Makino (フクリンジンチョウゲ)
f. rosacea (Makino) Hara (ウスイロジンチョウゲ)
