[1] In Hotoke Bog, Aomori Prefecture, on July 1 2007, by H. Kimura. Here, a wildfire occurred in early April. Reeds usually grew more than 1 m in height by late summer in Japan. Even in the early stage of succession, this species could be dominant and created wetland on Mount Usu where the ground surface was covered with sufficient water. [2] A typical reee swamp in Makunbetsu wetland, Sapporo, on April 24 2010. This species does not develop seedbank in various wetlands.
