Sweet William catchfly
Silene armeria L. [Caryophyllaceae]

Mushitorinadeshiko (ムシトリナデシコ, 虫取撫子)

Lifeform: biennial forb
Distribution: Native to Europe (extotic to Japan)
Habitat: ruderal grasslands
Stem develops sticky sap that had been considered to catch fly. However, it is not true, and thus this species is not a carnivorous plant. Mushitori means 'catch fly'.
