Distribution: China → Japan (south to Honshu), considered to be ancient exotic

Habitat: moist sites, such as streamsides → satoyama (里山) → The Anthology of Myriad Leaves (万葉集)
Flower: pale pink - white
Chromosome number: 2n = 40
Use: medicine
