Yaegawa-kamba (ヤエガワカンバ, 八重皮樺), Asian black birch, or Dahurian birch
Ko-ono-ore (コオノオレ, 小斧折)
Lifeform: deciduous tree ≈ 15 m high
Distribution: Usri - Amur - China - Korea - northern Japan

Japan: only in Hokkaido and central Honshu (disjunct distribution) → probably related to geological timescale (Tertiary)
Red Data Book of Japan: near threatened, NT

Habitat: sunny, dry sites
Seed dispersal: wind var. okuboi Miyabe et Tatewaki (ヒダカヤエガワ): Hidaka District
