ssp. majus: Southern France, northeast Spain ssp. cirrhigerum (Ficalho) Franco: Southern Portugal - southwest Spain ssp. linkianum (Boiss. et Reut.) Rothm.: endemic in western Portugal ssp. litigiosum (Pau) Rothm.: southeastern Spain ssp. tortuosum (Bosc) Rouy.: throughout the Mediterranean Also there are many cultivars (e.g., Bells Pink, Chimes Bronze, and Bells Yellow)
