Lifeform: weedy, annual grass
Distribution: northern Africa - Europe - western Asia

introduced to Japan in Meiji Era, now reported from south to Honshu

Habitat: grasslands, wastelands, roadsides, etc.
Chromosome number: 2n = 42
Synonyms:

Festuca myuros L.

var. megalura (Nutt.) Rydb. (オオナギナタガヤ), when established
