Miyamahotsutsuji (ミヤマホツツジ, 深山穂躑躅)
Life form: deciduous shrub ≈ 50 cm high, developing ericoid mycorrhizae (ツツジ科菌根) (Tsuyuzaki et al. 2005)
Distribution: Endemic to northern Japan (between central Honshu and Hokkaido)
Habitat: (subalpine) sunny sites, such as forest edges and gaps, on rocky soils ⇒ volcano (火山)
Stamen: curled ↔ Elliottia paniculata: straight
