Bussouge (ブッソウゲ, 仏桑花/扶桑花/仏桑華), rose of China, Chinese hibiscus
Lifeform: evergreen shrub (intolerant to low temperature)

Distribution: original distribution unknown (southern China, Indian Ocean islands, or ohter regions)

Japan: firstly reported around 1610 (imported)

Habitat: coasts
Flower: diverse due to many cultivars (red - white, orange, yellow, violet and brown, with 5-15 cm in diameter
Use: ornamental → more than 8,000 cultivars
