Salvia L. (アキギリ)
medou saiji (メドウセージ), Anise-scented sage, hummingbird sage
Lifeform: perennial subshrub ≈ 1.2-1.5 m tall
Distribution: South America
Habitat: full sun to light shade and well-drained, deep soils (for gardening)

drought-tolerant because of producing the moisture-conserving rhizomes

Utilization: gardening → many hybridized cultivars

Argentine skies (pale blue flowers), black and blue (dark violet blue calyx), blue ensign (large blue flowers), purple splendor (light purple flowers), blue enigma (pure blue flowers)
