Salvia L. (アキギリ) in Japan higoromosou (ヒゴロモソウ, 緋衣草), scarlet sage or tropical sage commonly called sarubia (サルビア) in Japan Lifeform: perennial forb (original species ≈ 1 m tall), treated as annual for gardening Distribution: originally growing beween 2000 to 3000 m elevation in Brazil Habitat: warm year-round and with high humidity → low cold-tolerant

Use: gardening ⇒ many cultivars ≈ 500 species → most of them are dwarf-formed (less than 50-76 cm tall)
