スズカケノキ このアメリカスズカケノキは、明治37年(1904)目黒の林業試験場(現: 林試の森公園)から試験場長白沢保美博士の寄贈により、この日比谷公園に植えられた。当時実生後数年たった苗を植え、現在の樹齢は約100年にもなる。

当時、スズカケノキ(プラタナス)は、街路樹の新種として外国から種をとりよせ試験的に植えていた時期で、その後この木の枝をとり、さし木をして街路樹がふやされた。 現在のスズカケノキは、都内の街路樹の15%(約5万本)を占める。
