Lifeform: short rhizomatous, perennial sedge
Distribution: Siberia - Sakhalin - northern Japan - southern Kuril - Kamchatka
Habitat: grasslands and gravel ground in alpine and subalpine zones (in the case of Japan)
Spicule: 3-5 on the top of flowering shoot (top = male)
