Section Stellulatae (カワズスゲ)
var. monticola Ohwi (ヤチカワズスゲ, 谷地蛙菅), Suwon sedge
Life form: perennial sedge ≈ 30-50 cm tall
Distribution: endemic to Japan (Kyushu, Shikoku, Honshu and Hokkaido)
Habitat: lowland wetlands
Syn: Carex stellulata Gooden. var. omiana (Franch. et Sav.) Kük. ex Matsum.
C. echinata (キタノカワズスゲ)
var. yakushimana Ohwi (チャボカワズスゲ, 矮鶏蛙菅), < 30 cm tall, in Yakushima
Syn: Carex ohwii Masam.
var. monticola Ohwi (カワズスゲ, 蛙菅), < 30 cm tall, in Sphagnum peatlands on alpine zones, north to central Honshu
