Section Praecoces (シバスゲ)
Sometimes grouped into Section Mitratae (ヌカスゲ)
O-shimakansuge (オオシマカンスゲ, 大島寒菅)
Lifeform: turfed, evergreen, perennial sedge ≈ 30-40 cm tall
Distribution: endemic to the Izu Island chain, represented by O-shima and Hatsushima Island (大島, 初島), central Japan
Habitat: forest floors, volcanic deserts, roadsides, etc.
Phylogeny: close to C. conica
f. variegata Hid. Takah. (フイリオオシマカンスゲ)
