Of Salix species in Hokkaido, only this species produces opposite phyllotaxis.
Inukoriyanagio (イヌコリヤナギ, 犬行李柳), Japanese variegated willow
Lifeform: deciduous shrub (dioecism) < 6 m high
Distribution: China - Korea - Japan
Habitat: sun tree, often establishing after disturbances
