Oxalis L. (カタバミ) Komiyamakatabami (コミヤマカタバミ, 小深山片喰), common wood sorrel Lifeform: perennial forb < 20 cm high Distribution: Europe and parts of Asia, including northern Japan Habitat: forest floor, in particula, on shady needle-leaved forests in subalpine zones Leaf: radical with 3-10 mm long stalk, sour → oxalic acid Leaflet: rounded, 7-12 mm wide Calyx: 4-5 mm long Flower: white - pink (May - June), the stalk 4-10 cm long

Rhizome: a few scales on the top, thin and stoloniferous with sparse nodes Seed dispersal: self Cf. O. griffithii Edgew. et Hook. f. (ミヤマカタバミ): distributed in Japan except Hokkaido ssp. taemonii (Yamam.) S. F. Huang et T. C. Huang (センザンカタバミ) var. acetosella f. vegeta (Tatew.) M. Mizush. (エゾミヤマカタバミ) var. longicapsula Terao (ヒョウノセンカタバミ): south to Hiyama District, Hokkaido, large shoot and oblong fruit, leaflet = 2.5-5.0 cm long
