Lifeform: succulent, evergreen, short-lived, perennial forb
Distribution: originally in southern South Africa

naturalized to Australia, USA and others

Habitat: shady places, often under trees
Chromosome number: 2n = 18
Use: gardening, ornamental
Synonyms:

Aptenia cordifolia (L. f.) Schwantes

Cultivars: cv. Red Apple (probably most of them introduced to Japan are in Red Apple)
