Penstemon Mitch. (タルマエソウ, beard-tongue)
Shirotsuriganeyanagi (シロツリガネヤナギ, 白釣鐘柳), (foxglove) beardtongue
Lifeform: rhizomatous, perennial forb with 90-150 in height
Distribution: eastern North America (eastern Canada - easntern and southeastern USA)
Habitat: prairies and open woodlands with moist soils
Synonyms

Penstemon laevigatus ssp. digitalis (Nutt. ex Sims) R. W. Benn.

Cultivars: a few, e.g., Dark Towers, Husker Red and Pocahontas
