(オヒルギ) Ohirugi (オヒルギ, 雄蛭木/雄漂木), large-leafed orange mangrove or oriental mangrove Species epithet is sometimes spelled as B. gymnorrhiza Lifeform: evergreen tree with 7-20 m (occasionally ≈ 30 m) in height Distribution: Western Pacific, including Nansei Islands in Japan, across Indian Ocean coasts to Cape Province of South Africa Habitat: seaward side of mangrove swamps

Seed: dispersed by seawater Chromosome number: 2n = 36 Use: stain by tannin, nectar source for apiculture, wood charcoal, fabric and pile Synonyms: Bruguiera conjugata Merr.
