Ooawagaeri (オオアワガエリ, 大粟還(り)), timothy grass (US) and cat's tail (EN)

Lifeform: short-rhizomatous, deciduous perennial grass, with 20-40 cm tall
Distribution: native to Europe (exotic to Japan, introduced for a pasture)
