Afurikasumire (アフリカスミレ, 阿弗利加菫), African violet, called Saintpaulia sometimes in horticulture
Lifeform: evergreen, perennial forb, with compact rosette (sometimes trailing)

cold-intolerant

Distribution: northeastern Tanzania (Usambara Mountains and coastal plains) - southern Kenya
Habitat: rainforests, typically growing on rock surfaces or tree trunks as an epiphyte
Flower: bluish-purple in the wild (various cultivations)
Cultivars: this species is the primary parent species for nearly all African violet cultivars
