For candidates
The candidate means that researchers who wish to jion our lab, i.e., master's students, doctoral students, research students, post-doctoral fellows, and others.
My hope
What you need is the "interest" and "can-do spirit" in the scientific research! That is all I want to say now.
If you are interested in the researhes, contact me.

☛ Words of wisdom by Einstein
- When I was a student, I was wondering from Faculty of Science to Institute of Low Temperature Science via GSES in the campus of Hokkaido University. I got a job in Niigata Prefecture, and now I am in this graduate school. Meanwhile, I got Ph.D. (D.Sc., sensu strict) by research on volcanic succession that is one of the major subjects of plant community ecology.
- I have researched not only volcanic succession but also the other disturbed ecosystems, such as skislopes and post-mining areas. I enjoy the research with friends and competitors.
- After the research of the largest wetland in China, I started long-standing research on the conservation and restoration of wetlands. Based on the background, I went to long-term overseas surveys for three times (USA, Canada and Australia). The research keeps going with foreign collaborators.
|
- I feel "global warming" when I research volcanic succession (if you want to know this reason, please ask me directly), "environmental deterioration and rehabilitation" when I research vegetation on skislopes and post-mining areas, and "ozone layer depletion and UV" when I was in Western Australia.
- I am trying to integrate successional theories on the basis of disturbance. To figure it out, I have a plan to research disturbed areas more. Let's see such "cool" areas with me!
- My major technique to approach the goal of the study is field work. Somebody says, that means "only power, with no brain." I do not like complex technicality, or am not good at handling it.
- I am in the scientific adviser committee of Toya-Shikotsu Global GeoPark, probably because of my history.
