Akebi (アケビ, 木通/通草), chocolate vine or five-leaf Akebia

Medical name: 木通(モクツウ): emmenagogue, antiphlogistic and diuretic by akeboside, etc.

Lifeform: deciduous, climbing woody plant
Distribution: China - Korea - Japan (Kyushu - Honshu)
Habitat: forest gaps, forest edges, etc.
Leaf: 3-7 leaflets, mostly five
Fruit: edible (sweety) → the seeds dispersed by animals
Chromosome number: 2n = 16 or 32
