Aasoukai (アアソウカイ, 亜阿相界), Elephant foot or Madagascar Palm
Lifeform: evergreen, succulent shrub with 6-10 m in height
Distribution: southwest Madagascar
Habitat: old dunes near the sea, limestone (calcareous rocks), schists and red sandy soil in low open dry forest
Trunk: metallic-grey pachycaul with spines
Use: gardening tree
