Lythrum L. (ミソハギ)
Misohagi (ミソハギ, 禊萩), Japanese loosestrife
Lifeform: clonal, perennial forb, with 50-100 cm in height
Distribution: Japan (Hokkaidō to Kyushu) - Korea - northern China

native to Japan, but not originally distributed in Hokkaido

Habitat: sunny wetlands (湿原), riverbanks, pond edges, and moist mountain meadows
Stem: upright, hairless, often branched at the top
Leaf: lanceolate, opposite
Chromosome number: 2n = 30
Use: gardening, obon flower in Japan
