Lifeform: perennial forb < 1.5 m tall (treated as annual in Japan due to intorelant to low temperature)
Origin: northeastern Africa

imported to Japan in the late Ero Era or early Meiji Era

Habitat: resistant to heat, drought and nutrient-poor soils
Leaf: diverse shape
Use: fruit used as vegetable
