Hibiscus L. (フヨウ)
Fuyou (フヨウ, 芙蓉), cotton rosemallow < 4 m tall
Lifeform: deciduous shrub
Distribution: China - Taiwan - Japan (south to Kyushu), probably originated from central-southern China
Habitat: coasts
Flower: pink - white, with 10-15 cm in diameter
Leaf: developing long petiole ≈ 10-20 cm long
Varieties (Cultivars)
cv. flore pleno (ヤエフヨウ)
cv. versicolor (スイフヨウ, 酔芙蓉)

Flower: double-flowered, white → pink
