Acer L. (カエデ)
Kajikaede (カジカエデ, 梶楓), horned maple
Onimomiji (オニモミジ, 鬼紅葉)
Lifeform: deciduous tree < 20 m in height
Distribution: endemic to Japan (south to Miyagi Prefecture)
Habitat: mountains, in particular, on valleys and hillslopes
Flower: dark purple, April to May before leaf flushing
Use: gardening
