Seiyou-oobako (セイヨウオオバコ, 西洋大葉子), greater plantain
Lifeform: weedy, perennial forb
Distribution: Native to Europe and northern and central Asia (exotic to Japan)
Habitat: ruderal, mostly on roadsides, widespread in Sapporo
var. japonica (Franch. et Savat.) Miyabe (トウオオバコ, syn. Plantago japonica Franch. et Savat.), not in Hokkaido
var. major: leaves thick, cordate-ovate, spreading
var. pilgeri Domin: leaves thin, elliptic-ovate, upright
ssp. intermedia (DC.) Arcang.
ssp. winteri (Wirtg.) W. Ludw.
