Lifeform: rhizocarpous, perennial forb
Distribution: Japan (exact original distribuiton is unclear due to the population decrease and escape from gardening) - China (a variety reported from Hubei Province)

Habitat: sunny, rocky fields
Leaf: succulent
Use: gardening (used before Edo Era) → cultivars, e.g., cv. mediovariegatum
