(カンレンボク) Kanrenboku (カンレンボク, 旱蓮木), happy tree, cancer tree or tree of life Kiju (喜樹) Lifeform: deciduous tree Distribution: originally in Yunnan Province, China introduced to Japan in the Taisho era Habitat: river valleys, moist forests and foothills in humid subtropical to montane climates Use: medicine (camptothecin - strong side effects) derivatives = irinotecan, topotecan, etc. (used as medicine)	Tree shown in the photos: Commemorative Tree Planting for the 10th Anniversary of Sister City Relations (友好都市締結10執念記念植樹).
