Etymology of Japanese name: firstly reported from Nanbu in Iwate Prefecture

Lifeform: perennial forb, producing long, stoloniferous rhizomes
Distribution: northeastern China - Japan (Honshu - Hokkaido)
Habitat: deciduous forests
Flower: May - July
Synonyms:

Achlys triphylla (Sm.) DC. ssp. japonica (Maxim.) Kitam.
