Amerikahakkakuren (アメリカハッカクレン, 亜米利加八角蓮/ポドフィルム), mayapple, American mandrake, wild mandrake and ground lemon
Life form: perennial forb, with 20-40 cm tall
Distribution: eastern United States and southeastern Canada
Habitat: woodlands
Flower: yellow or red
Fruit: poisonous when immature
Synonyms:

Anapodophyllum peltatum Moench

Use: rhizomes and resins used for medicine (aperient) by poisonous podophyllotoxin
