Lifeform: evergreen shrub, asymp; 1 m in height
Distribution: east Asira, including Japan (south to Kanto District)
Habitat: (along gullies and valleys) in mesic forest floors
Use: gardening, medicine (leaves and roots)
Synonyms, discarded:

- f. latifolia (Miq. ex Mez) Nakai (マルバイズセンリョウ)
- f. elongata (Mez) Makino (ナガバイズセンリョウ)
