Lifeform: deciduous shrub ≈ 2-4 m tall
Origin: upstream of the Yangtze River, China

introduced to Japan before 8th century

Leaf: compound, becoming thorns ()
Flower: white
Fruit: green → yellow
Seed dispersal: animal
Use: hedge, fruit = fruit liquor and medicine
Synonyms:

Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf., often used
