Dendrocalamus Nees (マチク)
Daimachiku (ダイマチク, 大麻竹), giant bamboo or dragon bamboo
Lifeform: tall, perennial bamboo, occasionally becoming 45 m (usually 30 m) in height
Distribution: Madagascar - India - Myanmar - Malaysia

grown mostly in greenhouses in the case of Japan

Habitat: in forests and on river banks
Use: edible (young shoot), construction and weaving (culm) Synonyms:
