Pleioblastus Nakai (メダケ)
Medake (メダケ, 雌竹), Simon bitter bamboo, Simon bamboo or Simon cane-bamboo
Nayotake (ナヨタケ)
Lifeform: evergreen perennial grass (bamboo) ≈ 3-5 m tall
Distribution: endemic to Japan (south to Kanto District)
Habitat: riversides, hillslopes, etc.
Leaf: hairless
Utilization: bamboo ware
