Viburnum L. (ガマズミ)
Gomaki (ゴマキ/ゴマギ, 胡麻木), sesame-flavored viburnum* or Siebold viburnum (* tentative translation)
Lifeform: deciduous, short shrub ≈ 2-7 m in height
Distribution: endemic to Japan (south to Kanto District)
Habitat: mesic, deciduous forests
Seed dispersal: animal:
var. obovatifolium (Yanagita) Sugim. (マルバゴマキ), large leaf, shorter than the type (< 2 m tall) - distributed more at Japan Sea side (→ morphological adaptation)
