Karatane-ogatama (カラタネオガタマ, 唐種招霊), banana shrub
Tou-ogamata (トウオガタマ, 唐小賀玉)
Lifeform: evergreen short tree < 5 m high
Distribution: native to southern China (imported to Japan in Edo Era)
Flower: spring to early summer with banana flavor
Use: garden tree (often seen at shrines), medicine
Synonyms:

Magnolia figo (Lour.) DC., often used
