Lifeform: perennial forb ≈ 1 m tall
Distribution: endemic to Japan
Habitat: forest roads, bushlands, forest edges, etc.
Synonyms:

Boehmeria longispica Steud. var. robusta (Nakai et Satake) Satake, often used

Different taxonomy:
Boehmeria × dura Satake (カタバヤブマオ/堅葉藪苧麻): wider leaf
Note: sometimes called マルバヤブマオ (making confusion)

Origin: putative hybrid between B. platanifolia and B. biloba
