Lifeform: deciduous shrub
Distribution: Himalaya - Japan (Shikoku and Kyushu)
Habitat: forests, forest edges, open thickets, valleys, and roadsides
Female flower: without flower stalk ↔ with flower stalk = O. pedunculata
Synonyms:

Villebrunea frutescens (Thunb.) Blume
Villebrunea fruticosa (Gaudich.) Nakai
