Kaikouzu (カイコウズ, 海紅豆), cockspur coral tree, ceibo in Spanish or corticeira in Portuguese
Amerikadeigo (アメリカデイゴ, 亜米利加梯梧)
Lifeform: deciduous tree, with 5-8 m in height
Distribution: across southeastern Brazil and northern Argentina

imported to Japan in Edo Era

Habitat: swampy or moist soils, especially in grasslands, marshes and riverbanks, and open grasslands

urban parks and gardens when escaped

Chromosome number: 2n = 42 (diploid)
Synonyms:

Corallodendron crista-galli (L.) Kuntze
Micropteryx crista-galli Walp.

Cultivars: cv. maruba-deigo (マルバデイゴ)
