Lifeform: evergreen short tree < 5 m in height
Distribution: eastern Asia, including Japan (south to Tokai District) southeastern and south-central China, Thailand and and Myanmar
Habitat: evergreen borad-leaved forests
f. benikaname (ベニカナメモチ, 紅要黐), red top, red leaf photinia

P. × fraseri Dress cv. red robin
P. glabra: trace of teeth (that become brown spots) remains on the stipe
P. × fraseri: no traces of teeth remain on the stipe
