Rinboku (リンボク, 橉木), holly-olive oak* (* tentative)
Hiiragigashi (ヒイラギガシ, 柊樫)

note that Prunus spinosa L. is also present

Lifeform: evergreen, short tree
Distribution: China - Taiwan - Japan (south to Honshu)
Habitat: component of laurel forests (broad-leaved evergreen forests), often established in valleys
Seed dispersal: animal
Leaf: dimorphic (change with aging, from toothed to entire)
Utilization: fuelwood, appliance wood, and dye
Synonyms:

Laurocerasus spinulosa (Siebold et Zucc.) C. K. Schneid., when this genus is established
