Lifeform: evergreen, stoloniferous shrub ≈ 30 m high
Distribution: southern China - Taiwan - southern Korea - southern Japan (south to Kanto District)
Habitat: (broad-leaved) forest floor
Seed dispersal: animal → edible plant
Chromosome number: 2n = 42, or 56
