Distribution: southern and south-eastern Asia (including Japan) - Australia - New Zealand
Habitat: mesic grasslands, incluidng dikes along paddy fields
Leaf: many pale glands and no black glands
Stem: 4 cristae
Chromosome number: 2n = 16
Synonyms:

Sarothra japonica (Thunb.) Y. Kimura

f. tenuius Miq. (コケオトギリ). Syn. Hypericum laxum (Blume) Koidz., adopted
