Nigayomogi (ニガヨモギ, 苦蓬), wormwood
Lifeform: perennial forb or sub-shrub with 40-60 cm tall
Distribution: Europe, northern America, northenr Asia, and northern Africa

imported to Japan in late Edo Era

Habitat: disturbed areas where there is little competition from other plants, such as roadsides, waste areas, farm yards, pastures, and croplands
Flowering: July-September
Seed dispersal: wind, (water and animals)
Use: fragrance (vermouth, liqueur and absinthe), medicine (stomachic) and anthelminthic

cultivated after Rome for medicine
