Kansyakuyaku (カンシャクヤク, 寒芍薬)
Lifeform: evergreen perennial forb
Distribution: alpine zones in south and central Europe
Habitat: woods, thickets and sometimes grasslands
Flower: December-February
Use: gardening - more than 100 cultivars, medicine (poison)

ssp. macranthus (Freyn) Schiffn., larger flowers only in northern Italy
